Welcome to the new season and let's hope we get more sailing days in this year than we did for last year. A gentle reminder that FFIV fees are now due – you should have received an email invoice (if not renewed online, see below, by 5th Oct.2025 ) which you can click through to the easy online payment options

The revised Ossie McCutcheon Trophy will be held on 19th October at Davey's Bay Yacht Club. It’s a full day event starting at 10am in the boat park with rigging and tuning, followed by a short sprint series of 5 races in the afternoon. Entry is just $10 per person or $20 per boat. The DBYC club F15 is available if you don’t have a boat, and we have skippers looking for crews – contact Lewy or myself if you’d like to join in. It will be a BYO lunch day as the Galley is not open.

This year Mordialloc Sailing Clubis hosting our State Championshipson the weekend of the 14th & 15th of March2026so mark this in your calendar. Stay tuned for the notice of race and other details for this event.

We have a freshly crowned new Commodore of Flying Fifteen Internationalin
Dean MacAulayfrom Western Australia. Many of you will have met Dean over the years at Flying Fifteen regattas everywhere. He sailed for many years with Grant Alderson and, with Grant, won the 2009 World Championship in Melbourne. More recently he sails with Philippa Packer and is at the front of the fleet on a regular basis. He is a former Commodore of Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club and brings a heap of knowledge and a fresh approach to the role of Commodore of our world body.

Additionally, years of dedicated service to the Flying Fifteen class at International, National and State levels by Michael Clarkehas been recognised by being awarded the Uffa Fox Medal. Michael is currently the secretary of FFI and continues this work which follows a range of roles for the Australian and Victorian associations over many years. Michael is also the webmaster for the Australian website and his involvement and enthusiasm is great appreciated.

On a more local level and on the sailing side, the Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia continue to prepare for our arrival at the 62nd Australian Championships in January of 2026. The Notice of Race is in the final stages and entries are open. For those looking to secure their accommodation close to the action, CYCSA have a camping area within their grounds and, I believe, power is available.

Finally, a heartfelt thank you to all our volunteers and committee members who give so generously of their time throughout the season. Your efforts do not go unnoticed and are deeply appreciated by all of us who get to enjoy this wonderful class The Flying Fifteen.

Kind Regards, Cameron Taylor
