The Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia ran a “first class” 2026 Australian Championshipsconducting 10 races in generally strong breezes.Nick and Enfys Jerwood in 4105 “Best Foot Forward” took out the Open title convincingly with 8 heat wins and only the Dunbar brothers Mike and Paul in 3986 “Ineffable” taking the other 2 heat wins to be second Overall. Fleet Start with Guy and John leading

FFI-V’s congratulations go to 3rd placed Victorians Guy Bancroft and John Radnell in 3988 “Epiphany” (yes this is still Cam and Sue’s boat with Sue planning to sail with John but had a late injury). Guy stepped in on short notice having just finishing 7th in the Sharpie Nationals with John as forward hand.Although this was Guys first experience in the Flying Fifteen class he comes with a lifetime of experience including winning the B14 World Championships 3 times. They sailed a very consistent regatta with a score card of (5),3,3,2, (4),3,2,3,2,2.[20 pts]Craig and Ian just flying whilst waiting

Next Victorians were the Rainey brothers Craig and Ian in 3880 “Where the Bloody Hell are You” coming in 5th Overall losing 4th place on a countback (both on 37 points) to David Tabb and Dave Bennett in 3941 “Ark” who were the only other boat outside the top 3 to grab a 2nd place in one of the heats.

For a race by race summary go to the FFI-A News Page – for a report provided by outgoing FFI-A President Russell Dawes on this link.

John Radnell added that the social side of the regatta was fantastic as always, was great catching up with the fleet for drinks and nibbles at the yacht club campsite after racing and pub dinners multiple nights.
